Hanoi prepares well for conditions and activities to serve people to celebrate Tet.

On the afternoon of December 20th, at the online meeting between the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee and the leaders of districts, counties, and towns, Ms. Bach Lien Huong, Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, reported on the implementation of Plan No. 276-KH/TU dated November 18, 2024, issued by the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee, regarding the leadership, direction, and organization of activities for the 2025 New Year and the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake in Hanoi.

Ensuring absolute safety in organizing activities.

According to the Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Bach Lien Huong, in implementing the plan of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee on leading, directing and organizing activities for the 2025 New Year and the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake in Hanoi, the Party Committee of the Hanoi City People's Committee has directed units to develop plans to ensure absolute political security, social order and safety, proactively handle pressing social issues, illegal gatherings, fire prevention and control, and traffic safety in the city before, during and after the New Year and Lunar New Year; these plans must be approved before December 22, 2024.

Regarding the gift-giving activities, the Hanoi People's Committee has issued a plan for giving gifts to beneficiaries of social policies during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, with over 1.1 million gift packages and a total estimated budget of 567.631 billion VND. The plan is to be completed before January 14, 2025 (corresponding to December 15 of the Year of the Dragon).

Regarding the implementation of the regulations in the 2024 Capital City Law concerning additional income for officials, civil servants, and employees of Hanoi City, after the Hanoi People's Committee submitted the proposal, the Hanoi People's Council approved a Resolution stipulating the payment of additional income to officials, civil servants, and employees working in state agencies, political organizations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, and public service units whose recurrent expenditures are fully covered by the state budget under the management of Hanoi City. The implementation period starts from January 1, 2025.

In addition, the Hanoi People's Committee issued a plan on organizing activities to commemorate major holidays and important historical and political events of the country and the capital city in 2025. Activities to celebrate the New Year 2025 include: a New Year's Eve countdown event on the evening of December 31st at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and Cach Mang Thang Tam Square; and fireworks displays at 5 locations (6 sites) in Hoan Kiem District, Ha Dong District, Nam Tu Liem District, Son Tay Town, and Dong Anh District from 00:00 to 00:15 on January 1st, 2025.

For the Lunar New Year celebration of the Year of the Snake 2025, the following activities are planned: the Hanoi International Light Festival, scheduled to be held in Tay Ho District at 8:00 PM on January 18, 2024; and the "Brilliant Thang Long 2025" program, scheduled from 9:00 PM to 11:59 PM on January 28, 2025. Hanoi also plans to hold fireworks displays at 30 locations (31 sites), including 9 locations with high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks displays (10 sites) and 21 locations with low-altitude fireworks displays in 30 districts and towns, from 0:00 AM to 0:15 AM on January 29, 2025 (the first day of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake). In addition, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to organize many cultural and artistic activities to celebrate the New Year.

Regarding visual propaganda and artistic lighting, the Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Bach Lien Huong, stated that the Party Committee of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, and the Department of Culture and Sports have issued plans for organizing information, decoration, and visual propaganda to celebrate the New Year 2025 (Gregorian calendar); to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Party (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025) and to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, following the principle of 50% traditional and 50% modern methods. The period for implementing visual propaganda and decoration to celebrate the New Year 2025 (Gregorian calendar) is from December 18, 2024 to January 10, 2025; and for commemorating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Party and celebrating the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake is from January 15 to February 8, 2025.

Regarding market management and the supply of goods and services for Tet (Lunar New Year), the Department of Industry and Trade has issued and implemented a plan guiding production and business units to develop plans and sign contracts to prepare goods ready to serve the people. It continues to coordinate with the Departments of Industry and Trade of other provinces and cities to proactively secure the supply of essential goods and organize activities to connect and source goods to fully meet the needs of the people of Hanoi during Tet.

The Department of Transportation has also issued plans to ensure traffic safety and reduce traffic congestion to serve the travel needs of the people during the New Year, Lunar New Year, and Spring Festival of the Year of the Snake 2025 in the city.

Concluding the discussion on preparations for the 2025 New Year and the Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake), Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh noted that units should pay careful and attentive care to policy beneficiary families and workers in difficult circumstances; this demonstrates the affection and responsibility of the city government. At the same time, ensure security and order, and continue to strengthen the handling of violations related to alcohol, drugs, and stimulants to ensure that the people can celebrate the New Year safely and joyfully.

Regarding lighting and decorations for Tet (Lunar New Year), Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh directed that environmental hygiene and lighting must be ensured, especially at important locations, administrative offices, and public areas. In particular, it is necessary to study decoration styles that have a focal point, cultural depth, and reflect the elegance of the capital city.

In addition, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh also requested the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department to direct the city's information and communication system to strengthen propaganda to create a general momentum, together with the entire Party, army, and people, affirming the achievements of the country and Hanoi in 2024; the efforts and endeavors of cadres, Party members, and the people of the capital city to create momentum and enter 2025 with a new mindset, new positive energy, and determination to successfully implement the socio-economic tasks of 2025, creating momentum for the 2026-2031 period.
