On the evening of August 15, at August Revolution Square ( Hanoi ), a special art program "Hanoi - From the historic Autumn of 1945" took place.

This is a prominent activity of the Capital in the series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (1945-2025), while also welcoming major holidays and important historical events of 2025.

Attending the event were Politburo members: Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

Also attending were comrades: Le Minh Tri, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court; Vu Hong Thanh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee; leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; revolutionary veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers; Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor, representatives of international organizations, diplomatic agencies and a large number of people in the capital.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh emphasized that 80 years ago, it was at this square that the historic rally of the people of the capital took place on August 19, 1945, starting the General Uprising to seize power across the country.

It was here that the revolutionary fire, the spirit of patriotism and the determination to gain independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people burned and spread, creating a brilliant milestone for the nation, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam - September 2, 1945, opening the era of independence and freedom associated with socialism, bringing the people from slavery to masters of their country and destiny.

After 80 years of protection, construction and development, especially nearly 40 years of renovation, Vietnam has achieved many great achievements in all fields, affirming its position and international prestige. In that journey, Hanoi - the Capital of a thousand years of culture, the Heroic City, the City for Peace has always been the national political and administrative center, and at the same time the locomotive of economy, culture, education, science-technology and international integration, clearly demonstrating the strong aspiration to rise of the Party Committee, government and people of the Capital.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that organizing the art program right at August Revolution Square not only honors glorious history, patriotism, and revolutionary spirit, but also sends a strong message about self-reliance, aspiration for development, and determination to continue the heroic tradition.

The program also demonstrates the commitment of the Party Committee, government and people of Hanoi in promoting potential and internal strength, building a green-smart-modern capital, contributing with the whole country to realizing the goal of a strong, prosperous and happy Vietnam.

The program is directed by the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi; and organized and implemented by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.

Combining political and epic elements, the program recreates one of the most important milestones in the nation's history, through an emotional artistic language, using scholarly, national, and international art forms, along with modern stage technology and contemporary art styles.

"Hanoi - From the Historic Autumn of 1945" consists of 3 chapters and 6 episodes, elaborately staged, recording typical slices in the 80 years since the success of the August Revolution.

From the heroic atmosphere of the revolutionary autumn days, with the brilliant sunshine of Ba Dinh and the resounding Declaration of Independence; to the heroic epic of the Ho Chi Minh era with the heroic song of Hanoi, the fierce days of the battle of "Dien Bien Phu in the air"; and then the "Spring trains" - the symbolic image of a gallant, elegant, and steadfast Hanoi on the path to building a rich, beautiful, civilized, and integrated capital.

The program's message aims to inspire pride, love for the homeland and country, and gratitude to previous generations; at the same time, inspire the younger generation to continue and promote the nation's heroic traditions.

The music of the program began with “ The Internationale ” (Pierre De Geyter) and a mash-up of songs associated with the spirit of the General Uprising such as “ Guerrilla Song ” (Do Nhuan), “ The Call of Youth ” (Luu Huu Phuoc), “ Destroy Fascism ” (Nguyen Dinh Thi), “ Let’s Go Red Soldiers Together ” (Dinh Nhu), “ August Nineteen ” (Xuan Oanh), ending with the majestic chorus of “ Marching Song ” (Van Cao).

The artistic director is People's Artist Tan Minh; musician Duong Cam is the music director; conductor Dong Quang Vinh is the orchestra conductor; and master Tuyet Minh is the scriptwriter and general director.

Participating in the performance were many famous artists such as People's Artist Hoang Anh Tu, artist Xuan Hinh, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, Meritorious Artist Tran Lin, singers Hoang Hai, Van Mai Huong, Lam Bao Ngoc, Oplus group, Dong Hung, Khanh Linh, Trong Hung..., artists of Thang Long Music and Dance Theater and nearly 1,000 artists and actors from art units and forces of the city.

The program uses modern sound, light, and visual effects, along with special stage staging, helping the audience immerse themselves in the space of Hanoi, a thousand years of culture, from the historic autumn to the outstanding achievements after nearly 40 years of renovation, leading the country in culture, politics, and foreign affairs.

The highlight of the event was three 3D mapping and artistic fireworks displays, combining music, light, and technology, taking viewers on a “journey of light through time”, from the glorious historical milestones, through the brilliant cultural space of Thang Long-Hanoi, to the image of the creative, modern Capital in the new era.

The program was broadcast live on VTV1 - Vietnam Television and rebroadcast on H1 - Hanoi Radio and Television, bringing the public the opportunity to enjoy an emotional artistic feast, contributing to spreading the historical and cultural values of the Capital./.
