According to the plan, in the 2024 crop season, localities in Hai Duong province will plant 53,200 hectares of rice, a decrease of more than 800 hectares compared to the 2023 crop season rice area; and plant 9,500 hectares of vegetables, equivalent to the same period last year.

Rice cultivation area has decreased because many localities have converted rice land to grow vegetables for higher economic efficiency or to other purposes.

The whole province has 13,250 hectares of early-season tea, accounting for 25% of the area, planted on high ground and harvested early before October 5, 2024 to switch to early winter crops. Medium-season tea is about 35,500 hectares, accounting for about 67% of the area, planted on high ground, low ground, and low ground. The rest is late-season tea, focusing on specialty glutinous rice varieties with high economic value.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong recommends that the weather at the beginning of the season is extreme, with many heavy rains causing flooding. Therefore, farmers need to sow the summer-autumn crop as soon as possible, expand the area of machine planting, create conditions to expand the land fund for winter-spring crop cultivation and improve rice production efficiency. Limit late sowing to avoid waterlogging damage caused by storms in late July and early August when the rice is still short. Choose quality varieties; proactively irrigate and drain water in a timely manner so that the rice grows and develops smoothly, giving high yields.
