Hai Phong: Infrastructure leverage heats up real estate market

(Dan Tri) - Hai Phong, one of the five largest economic centers in Vietnam, ended 2024 with outstanding achievements, affirming its position as a bright spot on the country's economic map.


The Port City has not only maintained a double-digit GRDP growth rate for more than a decade but also set a new record in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). These impressive figures have made Hai Phong an ideal destination, attracting the attention of strategic investors and ambitious young residents.

Promised Land

At the end of November 2024, the news that Hai Phong planned to implement the project to build a second sea-crossing bridge spread like a breath of fresh air, arousing confidence and expectations for the city's remarkable development. Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Bridge, its "predecessor" after 7 years of operation, has shown signs of overload in the face of the city's constant development flow.

Looking back 7 years ago, when the first sea-crossing bridge came into operation, few people could have imagined the dramatic transformation of Cat Ba. At that time, the VinFast automobile factory had just started construction on a pristine land. Today, VinFast is not only a national automobile brand but also a symbol of rapid development, with tens of thousands of cars rolling on all roads. Cat Ba, from a deserted island, has grown into a vibrant tourist and resort center.

Not only Cat Ba, but the whole of Hai Phong is transforming strongly, becoming a promised land for investment and development opportunities with convincing numbers. From 2009 to 2023, Hai Phong attracted FDI capital of up to 26.4 billion USD. In the period of 2021-2023 alone, this figure is 11.36 billion USD, helping Hai Phong continuously be in the top 5 localities leading the country in attracting FDI.

In 2024, Hai Phong's industrial parks and economic zones attracted 4.35 billion USD of FDI capital, equal to 242% of the plan. Total accumulated FDI capital to date has reached 30.3 billion USD, with 594 projects in operation.

This success is the result of the strategic vision, determination and continuous efforts of the leaders and people with the determination to build Hai Phong into a prosperous Port City, a place worth living, investing, enjoying a happy and fulfilling life.

LG - one of the largest corporations in Korea has just poured an additional 1 billion USD into Hai Phong by the end of 2024, bringing the total investment to an impressive 5.65 billion USD. Along with LG, a series of other national corporations such as Bridgestone, Regina Miracle, AEON... also chose Hai Phong as a destination with many expectations.

Domestic and foreign real estate corporations have not ignored this attractive destination, leading the investment wave, attracting experts and tens of thousands of workers from all over the country. These include NHO, Van Phu Invest, Masterise Homes, Vinhomes, and most recently Gamuda Land… promising to transform Hai Phong day by day.

Gem Park - "precious gem" for investors

At the seminar "New investment opportunities from a prosperous port city" in mid-December 2024 in Hai Phong, planning architect Le Tan Ky said that Hai Phong is currently an attractive city for investment because it converges all types of economies, from heavy industry, high-tech industry, to tourism and logistics. This diversity creates a solid foundation for sustainable development, allowing Hai Phong to build a master plan with a long-term vision.

Hai Phong's rapid economic growth has also created significant changes in the population structure and people's living and investment habits.

Instead of seeking opportunities in big cities, Hai Phong people are choosing to return, stay and contribute to the city's development. Data from the General Statistics Office in 2023 shows that Hai Phong is one of 13 provinces and cities with a positive net immigration rate, meaning more people come than go.
