According to Thanh Nien reporters, public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City have completed reports on facilities, teaching staff, and proposed enrollment targets for grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year.

An official from the HCM City Department of Education and Training said that two specialized high schools have reported and proposed quotas for grade 10.

Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted proposes to enroll 805 students for 13 specialized subjects, an increase of 35 students compared to the 2024-2025 school year for specialized IT classes. Of which, 10th grade classes specializing in Japanese, French, Chinese, history, and geography will enroll 35 students each (1 class), while other specialized subject classes will enroll 70 or 105 students (2 or 3 classes).

Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted proposes to enroll 525 students for 10 specialized subjects, an increase of 70 students compared to the 2024-2025 school year for the specialized IT class. Of which, specialized classes in literature, physics, biology, IT, geography, and history will enroll 35 students each (1 class); specialized classes in math, chemistry, and English under project 5695 will enroll 70 students each (2 classes), and specialized English classes will enroll 105 students (3 classes).

Candidates who register for specialized classes at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted will take exams in four subjects: math, literature, English and specialized subjects on June 6-7.

According to the roadmap, from the 2025-2026 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will stop organizing specialized classes in 4 high schools including: Gia Dinh (Binh Thanh District), Mac Dinh Chi (District 6), Nguyen Thuong Hien (Tan Binh District), Nguyen Huu Huan (Thu Duc City). Specialized classes will only be held at 2 schools: Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.

It is known that every year, 4 schools usually organize specialized classes with an enrollment target of about 770 students (22 classes). Therefore, this year's enrollment season, when there are only 2 specialized schools left, with an expected increase of 105 students in total, according to the proposal, many teachers commented that the competition for admission to specialized 10th grade classes will increase.
