Writing: Write a paragraph (approximately 200 words). One of the following two requirements should be met: Write a paragraph expressing your feelings about a poem or a stanza of a poem. Write a paragraph analyzing the theme, distinctive artistic features, and aesthetic effect of the work.
Write an essay. One of the following two requirements must be met: Write an argumentative essay on a social issue, clearly presenting the issue and the writer's opinion (agreement or disagreement) on that issue; provide convincing reasoning and evidence.
Write an argumentative essay on a problem that needs solving; present feasible and persuasive solutions.
The assessment criteria for the Literature subject are the required reading comprehension and writing skills outlined in the 2018 General Education Program - Literature subject at the lower secondary level, primarily for grades 8 and 9.
Note: The exam is designed to integrate the assessment of reading comprehension and writing skills; the content in the writing section is related to the text in the reading comprehension section.
There is a question about Vietnamese in the literary reading comprehension section. The assessment methods should be synchronized with the use of appropriate teaching materials, shifting the way English is taught and learned from primarily traditional methods to a combination of communicative, student-centered approaches and the application of language in real-world situations.
Focus the assessment on specific language skills, setting specific goals for each knowledge area.
Scope of evaluation:
Phonetics: How to pronounce basic vowels and consonants. How to place stress correctly in words. Vocabulary and grammar.
Diverse vocabulary types and word meanings according to the curriculum framework. Grammar points according to the curriculum framework. Communication and application to real-life situations. Ability to understand and respond to simple situations in real-life language.
Writing: Write words in the correct form to complete meaningful sentences. Write simple sentences based on given information. Write sentences using grammatical structure and word combination skills.
Reading Comprehension: Read a text of 180-200 words and find the information. Read and fill in the blanks in a text of 80-100 words.
