The Ministry of Science and ICT (MOST) of Korea and Google jointly organized the event "AI for Korea 2023" to develop the Artificial Intelligence (AI) industry in Korea. The event took place from July 13 to 15 and focused on discussing the future of the AI industry and reviewing the current state of AI technology of domestic and foreign AI companies.
One of the main goals of the event is to expand and globalize the Korean AI industry, which has seen dynamic growth in recent years. The ICT Ministry and Google both hope to use the event as an opportunity to expand cooperation in human resource development and research and development (R&D) to advance the domestic AI sector.
Minister Lee Jong Ho expressed his hope that AI services developed by Korean startups can expand overseas, and affirmed the need to strengthen AI capabilities through joint research.
During the event, Google announced that it is expanding the number of participants in the Machine Learning Bootcamp Program from 200 in 2022 to 500 this year. Machine Learning Bootcamp is a program that supports deep learning training for AI students and software developers.
Google also introduced a new digital education program at the event, aimed at people with no knowledge of AI or experience in the field. The company also launched the Startup School program this year, which aims to provide students and entrepreneurs with the knowledge they need to build successful startups and compete globally.
In addition, the Ministry of Information and Communications and Google also committed to organizing academic exchange activities related to AI research and turning them into regular activities to promote the development and application of AI.
