Helping people in difficult times is a beautiful act of the Party Cell Secretary, Head of Residential Area No. 8, Tan Hung Ward (Hai Phong City).

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phan and his wife were taken out of their house when the water rose.

On the morning of August 27, in the communes and wards in the west of Hai Phong city, heavy rain continued. Many alleys were flooded, water rose high and flooded many houses, including the house of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phan (nearly 80 years old) and his wife at 15 Tran Ich Phat, Zone 8, Tan Hung Ward. Mr. Phan and his wife are old, weak, and sick and cannot take care of themselves. Their children and grandchildren all live far away, while those who live nearby go to work late at night.

While worried, Mr. Phan and his wife received timely help from the Party cell secretary, head of the residential area Nguyen Minh Tuyen and some other people. Mr. Tuyen and some people used a cyclo to wade through the deep flooded road to take Mr. Phan and his wife and their belongings to the house of their eldest son, more than 200m away.

“My wife and I are very grateful for the kind actions of Mr. Tuyen and everyone. The timely concern of Mr. Tuyen and the neighbors made us feel very happy and warm inside. Last year when storm No. 3 came, my wife and I also had to stay at our son's house for more than ten days, but we knew about it in advance so we were prepared. This time the water flooded the house so quickly, none of our children were home so we were very scared,” Mr. Phan shared.

The simple yet heartwarming story of everyday life once again shows that in times of trouble, the spirit of “Party members go first, the country follows” is always a solid support for the people. That beautiful action has contributed to fostering people’s trust in humanity, comradeship, and neighborly love, “helping each other in times of need”.
