Golden initiative to improve productivity and reduce costs

2024 marks 20 years that Mr. Nguyen Quang Truong has been with LS-Vina Electric Cable and System Joint Stock Company (LS-Vina Company). For him, that is the time that helps him gain more knowledge and experience, nurture his love for the job, passion for creativity, and then contribute initiatives and improvements that benefit the company - the place he considers his second home.

In 2023 alone, Mr. Truong contributed 2 initiatives, bringing billions of dong in benefits to the business. One of them is the initiative to improve the technique of cooking and treating copper water when cooking in the 8.0mm copper wire production line.

According to Mr. Truong, the copper casting and rolling line is one of the company's important lines, producing 8.0mm copper wire to provide raw materials for the next stages of electric cable production. This stage uses LPG as fuel, so the amount of CO emissions is large and the fuel cost is high. From the above reality, Mr. Truong thought, researched and proposed a solution to improve the process of cooking and treating copper water during cooking to increase the furnace's combustion efficiency, save gas fuel, and reduce emissions to the environment.

The initiative, after being applied, contributes to saving fuel, increasing combustion efficiency, and generating profits of more than 2 billion VND/year. Not to mention, the initiative helps reduce CO emissions into the environment, reduce CO pollution in factories, and protect workers' health.

Also in the copper casting line, Mr. Truong continued to propose an initiative to improve the copper water casting system in the 8.0mm copper wire production line. This system was introduced to increase the life of the steel belt, save costs, increase productivity and reduce labor. After the improvement, the quality of the weld was increased, the life of the steel belt was also extended to 7 consecutive days. The initiative contributed to increasing labor productivity, with a value of 560 million VND/year from reducing production costs due to frequent belt replacement. In addition, this initiative also contributed to reducing the large amount of scrap generated during the production process.

The driving force of innovations

Thanks to these initiatives, in 2023, Mr. Truong and his colleagues at the Copper and Aluminum Casting Factory exceeded the plan with an output of 41,000 tons of copper and 7,100 tons of aluminum. The products manufactured all ensure quality according to standards, are highly appreciated by customers and contribute to the company's production and business results.

Not only that, the initiative "Improving the copper water casting system in the 8.0mm copper wire production line" helped Mr. Truong receive the Creative Labor Certificate from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the third time. Also in 2023, Mr. Truong was honored to be one of the individuals receiving the Nguyen Duc Canh Award - a noble award from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded to workers with outstanding achievements in production labor, contributing many technical innovation initiatives...

Previously, in 2021, Mr. Truong was also the first prize winner of the Technical Innovation Contest among union members and workers in Hai Phong and was recognized and rewarded by the Trade Union at all levels for many consecutive years.

These awards and recognitions are a great encouragement to Mr. Truong, giving him more motivation to work enthusiastically every day. At the same time, they help him continue with his passion for creativity, constantly learning and updating technology to apply in production practices, creating ideas, initiatives and improvements to increase productivity, reduce costs, and build a safe and clean working environment.
