Excited about the new sport tournament appearing in Vietnam

In the recent short time, pickleball has appeared very strongly in Vietnam with an increasing number of players. Many famous athletes such as former Vietnamese table tennis champion Ly Minh Triet, former coach of the Vietnamese tennis team Truong Quang Vu or female tennis champion Tran Thi Kim Loi... have started to be passionate about this new sport appearing in Vietnam.

Pickleball Championships A Division Champion Pairs

It is played with wooden rackets and on a smaller court than a tennis court. The rules are simple and easy to learn for beginners. For experienced players, a game of pickleball can be very exciting with its fast pace and intensity. Pickleball can be played indoors or outdoors on a court similar in size to a badminton court with an adjustable tennis net.

This sport can be played in singles or doubles, requiring players to have a specialized pickleball racket and a polymer ball with holes. This is why the number of players in Vietnam is increasing. What's more, it doesn't take much time to get started. Even those with minor injuries can switch to this sport because the movements are not too heavy.

Former table tennis champion Ly Minh Triet, head of the Pickleball Championships Organizing Committee, shared: "This is a sport that is considered very suitable for the dexterity of Vietnamese people. When I first started playing this sport, I really liked it. However, in Vietnam, there are not many tournaments for athletes, so I, together with Vloop Sports Fashion Company and USC Thu Thiem Sports Center, organized the tournament to create opportunities for everyone to interact and share with each other."

Former tennis team coach Truong Quang Vu also talked about the new sport of pickleball: "More than two months ago, I was invited by my brother Ly Minh Triet: just hold the racket once and you will love it right away. After the only trial at the USC Center, I fell in love with this sport. In the near future, we will participate in the first international tournaments in Bali (Indonesia) or Taiwan to gain practical experience in order to develop pickleball in the future so that Vietnam can establish a Pickleball Federation."

The 2023 Pickleball Championships had the participation of 40 players. In the final result, the pair Truong Quang Vu - Duong Vtec won the championship in category A. The pair Ly Minh Triet - Matt came in second. The third place went to the pair Luan TG - Xuan KH and Bao Than Da - Thai Q3. In category B, the pair Trinh Toan - Tam Ken excellently won the championship after defeating the pair Duy KH - Thanh Car in the final match. Third place went to the pair Ly Minh Tan - Nguyen Thai Binh Duong .
