In just the first 10 minutes, Bayern Munich made viewers think they would have an easy match. In the 6th minute, the "gray tigers" scored a lucky goal when Erick Pulgar headed the ball into his own net. Just 3 minutes later, Harry Kane seized the opportunity from the opponent's mistake to shoot from afar, raising the score to 2-0.
But after a surprisingly easy first 10 minutes, Bayern Munich slumped. Flamengo, meanwhile, showed why they had qualified for the knockout stages, with a convincing and determined performance. At times, they even forced Bayern Munich back into their own half.
The Brazilians started to respond with Araujo's dangerous shot from inside the box in the 17th minute, which was blocked by Neuer. Flamengo's efforts were rewarded in the 33rd minute, as their passes confused the Bayern defence. Gerson was there at the right time to fire home a decisive shot to reduce the deficit.
However, Flamengo's high attack left them open. In the 41st minute, Bayern Munich regained their two-goal lead with a beautiful long-range shot from Goretzka.
Flamengo returned from the break with determination. Bayern Munich's defence looked fragile despite being the favourites. The Brazilians were rewarded for their pressure, forcing Olise to handle the ball in the box. From 11 metres, Jorginho fooled Neuer to give Flamengo hope.
But while playing well, their defense continued to make regrettable mistakes. This gave Harry Kane the opportunity to finish in the penalty area to increase the score to 4-2 for Bayern.
In the remaining minutes, the two teams continued to play tit for tat but no more goals appeared. Bayern Munich won a hard-fought victory and will meet Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals.
