At the meeting, delegates passed a resolution approving the policy of arranging commune-level administrative units in Tinh Bien town, including the following localities: Tinh Bien ward, Chi Lang ward, Thoi Son ward, Tinh Bien Nam commune, Tinh Bien Trung commune.

At the same time, a resolution was also passed approving the policy of restructuring An Giang province and Kien Giang province. Specifically, establishing An Giang province on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces. After restructuring, An Giang province has a natural area of ​​9,888.91 km², a population of more than 4.952 million people; has 102 grassroots administrative units including: 85 communes, 14 wards and 3 special zones. The administrative - political center of An Giang province is located in Rach Gia city (Kien Giang province) today.

Previously, the People's Committee of Tinh Bien Town organized a public consultation on the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units in Tinh Bien Town and the policy of rearranging An Giang and Kien Giang provinces, with over 99% of voters agreeing.
