TPO - At this time, the final items of the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 8A are being urgently completed to put into operation. The upgrading of the route is gradually restoring the image of the road that was once voted the most beautiful in the country.

National Highway 8A is a vital traffic route, playing an important role in economic and social development, ensuring national defense and security in the western region of Ha Tinh province. This is also the shortest route to the sea for Laos and the northeastern provinces of Thailand.

The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 8A is in the final stage. The investment project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 8A was approved by the Ministry of Transport to be implemented since October 2010, with a total investment of more than 1,660 billion VND. Up to now, after 10 years of construction approval, the route is gradually being completed.

When the upgrade of National Highway 8A is completed, it will contribute to the economic development of Ha Tinh province and trade with Laos as well as some countries in the region through Cau Treo border gate.

According to Project Management Board 4 (Project Investor), out of 12 packages, only 3 packages are currently being completed, expected to be completed this year.

In the picture, the km74+600 bridge of the XL10 package is the last item that the construction unit is implementing the final stages to put into operation.

The National Highway 8A upgrade project has focused on fixing 17 landslide-prone and landslide-prone areas, and renovating and expanding 13 old, narrow, and degraded bridges. In the photo is the Eo Co Gai Bridge construction project with a total investment of more than 20 billion VND. The project is aimed at eliminating landslide "black spots" on the road. To date, the project has been completed and put into use.

It is known that in 1999, the National Highway 8A was approved for upgrading and expanding. At that time, the Ministry of Transport voted this as one of the most beautiful roads in Vietnam. However, after a long period of exploitation, the road was seriously damaged. Upgrading and expanding the road also encountered numerous difficulties due to the effects of weather, capital sources... However, up to now, the project has gradually been completed, restoring the image of the road that was once considered the most beautiful in Vietnam.

The road surface is marked with lines and mirrors installed at dangerous bends to ensure safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic.

According to the calculations of the functional sector, after the upgrade of National Highway 8A, it will help the traffic from Pho Chau town to Cau Treo border gate more conveniently. In addition, it will also create new momentum, stimulating trade activities between Vietnam, Laos and Thailand through Cau Treo international border gate.
