On the morning of June 21, Coach Kim Sang Sik was appointed by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) as the Honorary Ambassador of Korean Tourism for the period 2025 - 2027. The appointment ceremony took place in Ho Chi Minh City, within the framework of the Korea Travel Festa 2025 event.
The title of Honorary Ambassador of Korean Tourism is awarded by the Korea Tourism Organization to influential figures at home and abroad to promote the brand and competitiveness of Korean tourism in the international market.
In the sports field, some of the previously appointed faces include Indonesian national team head coach Shin Tae Yong, baseball player Ryu Hyun Jin, swimmer Park Tae Hwan and player Choo Shin Soo.
Coach Kim Sang Sik being honored is not only a recognition of his contributions to Vietnamese football but also a meaningful bridge in the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Korea.
After winning the ASEAN Cup 2024 with the Vietnamese team, coach Kim Sang Sik is actively leading the Vietnamese U23 team to conquer the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship taking place in Indonesia.
In this tournament, the Vietnam U23 team won the championship twice in a row in 2022 and 2023 under the leadership of coaches Dinh The Nam and Hoang Anh Tuan.
In preparation for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, Coach Kim Sang Sik has announced a list of 35 players who will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria Vung Tau. The team will train there until July 14 before departing for Indonesia.
In the group stage, the U23 Vietnam team in Group B will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22.
