According to the policy of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Professional Football Club was transferred, reorganized and renamed the Ho Chi Minh City Police Football Club. This is not only an organizational step, but also a milestone with great political - cultural - social significance, marking the return of a symbol that was once the pride of the city's football.
In the 1990s, along with Saigon Port and Customs, Ho Chi Minh City Police was one of the three big names in Vietnamese football, winning the national championship in 1995 and many times being runners-up. After more than two decades of absence, the team has now returned with thorough preparation: perfecting the management apparatus, restructuring the coaching staff, recruiting high-quality players, aiming for maximum professionalism.
This season's coaching staff brings together many experienced faces, including head coach Le Huynh Duc and assistants Phung Thanh Phuong, Hoang Hung and Chau Chi Cuong. The team retains many pillars from the old Ho Chi Minh City Club such as goalkeeper Partrick Le Giang, midfielder Endrick, center back Tran Hoang Phuc, midfielder Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong, defender Vo Huy Toan... In addition, the team added notable contracts: striker Nguyen Tien Linh, midfielder Pham Duc Huy, midfielder Dang Van Lam...
