Coach Polking did not want to talk about the referee. |
Coach Polking admitted that the red card was the turning point that made CAHN lose their advantage in the loss to The Cong Viettel at Hang Day Stadium on the evening of November 23. However, the Brazilian strategist did not want to talk much about the referee.
"Everyone has their own job. I don't want to talk about the referees. They have decisive decisions. The offside situation was checked for 8 minutes, there was a time when the opponent stopped the ball without being resolved satisfactorily. Regarding Hugo's situation at the end of the match, I just want to say that before that, there was a foul on Quang Hai. If it had not been blown, it could have led to a serious injury. But I don't blame The Cong Viettel. They did their part well," said coach Polking.
At Hang Day Stadium, the two teams played out one of the most intense matches of the season. CAHN took the lead early, then equalized, before regaining the advantage and being leveled again at the end of the second half after a VAR intervention. The match ended 2-2 after 90 minutes, forcing both sides into a thrilling penalty shootout. Here, CAHN lost 3-4, officially becoming the former champion of the National Cup.
"In the first half, we were a bit stuck. In the second half, we improved, created clear chances and scored. But penalty shootouts are always risky even though we have been practicing since yesterday. Now the team needs to prepare for the next matches," Coach Polking added.
On the other hand, coach Popov could not hide his satisfaction when his army team defeated the team he called the strongest in Vietnam at the moment. The Bulgarian coach was also one of two people to receive a red card at the end of the match.
Talking about this situation, he said: "I don't want to say more about the referee. Tactically, we did well. Maintaining intensity against the strongest team in Vietnam is not easy. My players fulfilled their mission."
He emphasized: "It's unfortunate that we had to face Hanoi and CAHN in the first rounds. These are two of the three or four strongest teams in Vietnam, luckily we overcame them. We respect all opponents and will move forward match by match."
