It is not impossible that coach Philippe Troussier will call up more players to fill in the injured positions in the Vietnam national team. For example, Mr. Troussier will call up more goalkeepers for the team, because if the team only has 2 goalkeepers (Nguyen Filip and Nguyen Dinh Trieu) participating in the 2023 Asian Cup, it will be too risky.
Recently, the character that has been mentioned a lot about being added to the injured Dang Van Lam is goalkeeper Tran Minh Toan of Binh Duong Club. Minh Toan is a goalkeeper with good physique (1m86 tall), playing steadily from the end of last season to the beginning of the current season in V-League.

However, whether Tran Minh Toan is called up to the national team or not, he is only a backup plan for risks. The person who will truly replace Dang Van Lam and officially take the position in the goal of the Vietnamese team at the Asian Cup is goalkeeper Nguyen Filip.
Perhaps there is no need to discuss the professional quality of this Slovakian-born goalkeeper, nor the ability of the goalkeeper who played in the Czech professional league and participated in the Europa League. The only remaining issue is Nguyen Filip's form and his ability to coordinate with his teammates at the Asian Cup.
Similarly, coach Troussier probably had a plan in place to replace central defender Que Ngoc Hai and striker Nguyen Tien Linh, after the two players currently playing for Binh Duong Club were injured.

Que Ngoc Hai cannot play at the 2023 Asian Cup, central defender Nguyen Thanh Binh or Do Duy Manh will replace Que Ngoc Hai's position, playing right next to Bui Hoang Viet Anh (the remaining position in the center of the defense line almost belongs to left-sided central defender Phan Tuan Tai).
Thanh Binh played alongside Viet Anh and Phan Tuan Tai in the 2026 World Cup Asian qualifiers in November. Nguyen Thanh Binh's technical ability is not bad, so the Vietnamese team's defense probably won't be any worse after Que Ngoc Hai's injury.
The new player, if added to the defense, would probably only be a backup option, because most of the best central defenders in Vietnamese football (excluding those who are injured) including Viet Anh, Thanh Binh, Duy Manh are all already on the national team.
In the forward line, even if Tien Linh is injured, coach Troussier probably won't add anyone, because Vietnamese football no longer has many strikers of sufficient quality to play for the national team in the Asian championship.

Tien Linh's replacement will most likely be Nguyen Van Toan if coach Troussier prioritizes experience and speed, or Nguyen Van Tung if the French coach prioritizes youth and aerial attacks. The backup for these players will be young striker Nguyen Dinh Bac.
In fact, even when Tien Linh was not injured, he only played about one half in each match of the Vietnam team in the World Cup qualifiers. Coach Troussier is no stranger to the situation of Tien Linh not appearing in the Vietnam team's lineup.
One thing worth noting about coach Troussier is that he speaks less about his difficulties than his predecessor Park Hang Seo.
