After a 30-year hiatus, the Intervision 2025 international music competition with the participation of 23 contestants from many countries and singer Duc Phuc was crowned with a total score of 422 from the international jury. Duc Phuc's victory not only received the prestigious crystal cup but also a prize equivalent to more than 9 billion VND.
According to musician Ho Hoai Anh's sharing with VietNamNet, the song Phu Dong Thien Vuong was born quite by chance. Initially, when Duc Phuc received an invitation to participate in the contest, he approached the musician to ask him to compose a new song. After the first meeting, they agreed to choose a song with Vietnamese folk elements and considered songs like Cay Truc Xinh.
"However, after thinking about it at home, Duc Phuc called me and suggested: 'Uncle, I want to choose the image of Saint Giong'. Based on this idea, I started composing the song Phu Dong Thien Vuong ," musician Ho Hoai Anh shared.

In fact, Phu Dong Thien Vuong is the product of many creative minds. In addition to the musical direction, theme and main melody by Ho Hoai Anh, the song also has excellent harmony by Duong K, rap by Phuc Du and English lyrics by Orange at Duc Phuc's request.
"It's rare to see a young singer with such meticulousness and perfectionism in every detail. To get the final version that everyone sees, we made many demos and edited them many times," musician Ho Hoai Anh commented on Duc Phuc's professionalism.
According to the organizers' request, the song must not exceed 3 minutes. The big challenge is how to convey all the crew's wishes in that short time.
According to Ho Hoai Anh, the song was inspired by the poem Tre Viet Nam by poet Nguyen Duy, which tells the epic story of Saint Giong - a Vietnamese folk hero riding an iron horse to fight the Yin invaders. Instead of the somewhat tense image of "Saint Giong pulling up bamboo to destroy the enemy", the message in the song is that young Vietnamese people are like bamboo - resilient, healthy, full of energy and able to grow well anywhere.
"This is a symbol of the youthful spirit of Vietnam. How can we have both traditional and modern elements in a 3-minute performance, combining performance with technology and expressing national pride," musician Ho Hoai Anh shared.
Russian newspapers such as Komsomolskaya Pravda praised Duc Phuc for "taking over the stage" and delivering a "magnificent, distinctive" performance, affirming the class of Vietnamese music on the international arena. Thousands of viewers left congratulatory comments on social networks, emphasizing his serious preparation and impressive ability to convey Vietnamese culture.
Duc Phuc shared: "This moment of victory will be deeply imprinted in my heart. I hope international audiences can feel the beauty of Vietnamese culture through the performance."
Musician Ho Hoai Anh commented that Duc Phuc is a typical singer who did not receive formal training in a professional artistic environment but was completely self-taught. 10 years ago, when recruiting Duc Phuc to The Voice, he saw the rare burning passion of the young singer.
"I still remember the image of the other contestants, after the stage rehearsal, being busy with their belongings, but Phuc sat still in one place, watching the other contestants' performances with great enthusiasm, listening and feeling the good points of the performances," musician Ho Hoai Anh recalled.
Over the past 10 years, Duc Phuc has been one of the students that musician Ho Hoai Anh is most proud of and loves the most. "He is a person who knows how to behave, live in harmony with colleagues and people around him - a very good singer. That's why he always has the sympathy of all his colleagues," he expressed.
