Previously, from 5:00 p.m. on May 6, thousands of people waited at the lakeside area of Lang Park for the flower lantern releasing ceremony.
Everyone lined up and sat neatly, keeping order with sincerity towards the Vesak Festival 2025.
According to the Organizing Committee, the lanterns are designed in a variety of ways: 20,000 made of paper with candles, 10,000 powered by batteries (in case of bad weather) and 5,000 made of plastic placed around the lake. In particular, the middle of the lake is decorated with 7 large lotus flowers, creating a highlight for the festival space.
The lantern releasing ceremony is not only a spiritual activity but also an opportunity to connect the community, reminding each person of the values of compassion, wisdom and harmony taught by the Buddha.
This is one of the meaningful traditional ceremonies, held annually on the occasion of Buddha's birthday. Vietnam Buddhist Academy is one of the key locations of Vesak 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The 2025 Vesak celebration will take place from May 6 to 8 at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City, with the theme "Solidarity and tolerance for human dignity: Buddhist wisdom for world peace and sustainable development".
The event gathered more than 2,700 delegates, including 1,250 international guests from 85 countries and territories.
In the coming days, the Buddhist Academy is expected to continue organizing activities such as peace prayer chanting ceremonies, Buddhist cultural exhibitions, tea meditation nights, and international academic exchanges between Buddhist scholars at home and abroad.
