Hoa Phat has just received the 110,000 DWT bulk carrier The Momentum - the largest ship in the Group's current fleet.

Hoa Phat Group said that the company has just received the bulk carrier The Momentum with a capacity of 110,000 DWT - the largest ship in the Group's current fleet.

Accordingly, The Momentum ship is managed and operated by Hoa Phat Shipping Joint Stock Company - a member of Hoa Phat Group. With a capacity of up to 110,000 DWT, the ship belongs to the Minicape segment, capable of carrying nearly 40% more cargo than the Kamsarmax ship that Hoa Phat is currently operating.

Optimize logistics costs

Putting into operation large-capacity vessels such as The Momentum not only improves operational efficiency but also helps the group optimize logistics costs, especially on long-haul international routes; serving the needs of importing strategic raw materials such as iron ore and coal from key markets such as Australia, America, and the Inner Asia region.

The ship is designed to be suitable for international sea routes, capable of docking at deep-water areas such as Dung Quat port - a transit hub for raw materials such as ore and coal for Hoa Phat steel mills.

This is also part of the orientation to develop the input material supply chain in a proactive direction, reducing dependence on outsourcing services in the context of strong fluctuations in global logistics costs.

Mr. Doan Quang Thinh, Director of Hoa Phat Shipping Joint Stock Company, said that investing in The Momentum ship is a strategic step, calculated based on the actual needs of the Group in the coming period. Large ships will serve the import of essential raw materials from the international market, while the fleet of smaller tonnage ships will be responsible for transporting output products on domestic routes. The goal is to be proactive in transporting capacity for both raw materials and finished products.

According to the company representative, the long-term goal is to build a fleet of 15-20 ships, with priority given to large ships, not only to meet internal transportation needs but also to expand service provision to domestic and foreign partners. Proactively developing transportation capacity is considered a key solution, helping Hoa Phat ensure the stable and efficient operation of the production - supply chain.
