At Thu Duc Agricultural Wholesale Market (Thu Duc City), fruits and vegetables are continuously transported by trucks from provinces and cities to the market, goods are displayed everywhere on the internal walkways. Workers transport them by carts, constantly moving like shuttles between the stalls.

The amount of goods imported to the market will gradually increase, in which the amount of vegetables ranges from 1,800 tons - 2,500 tons/day, the amount of fruits ranges from 1,600 tons - 2,500 tons/day, and fresh flowers ranges from 100 - 380 tons/day.

Fruit prices are quite stable, such as Hoa Loc mangoes from 30,000 - 60,000 VND/kg, depending on the type; custard apples from 40,000 - 65,000 VND/kg, depending on the type. Currently, green-skinned grapefruits with branches are available in large quantities (for offerings) and are priced 15,000 - 20,000 VND/kg higher than grapefruits without branches.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huay, General Director of Thu Duc Agricultural Market Management and Trading Company Limited, said that compared to the peak period of the same period last year, the amount of vegetables and fruits imported to the market increased by 10%, the amount of fresh flowers imported to the market increased by 4%. The main source of domestic vegetables comes from Lam Dong province, accounting for 36% - 40% of the total amount of vegetables imported to the market. Domestic fruits from the Western provinces account for 50% of the total amount of fruits imported to the market.

At Hoc Mon wholesale market (Hoc Mon district), the peak period from December 25 to 29 is that the volume of goods increases by about 30% compared to normal days, the highest day is about 3,500 tons/day and night, an increase of 50%.

For the vegetable and fruit industry, to ensure that the supply is not interrupted when there is a problem with the supply, traders have plans to store goods in cold storage around the market (about 2,000 tons of vegetables and fruits, mainly carrots, potatoes, onions, garlic, etc.). In general, prices at the market are stable.

On the night of December 29, Hoc Mon wholesale market will temporarily close until about 10pm on the first day of Tet, while some vegetable and fruit stalls will re-import and resume business. For pork products, the meat market will reopen at 1am on the fourth day of Tet.

The transport and loading staff are constantly working. Because the market is so crowded during peak days, there is congestion and the staff have to wait for each other to move.

As for the pork industry, on December 28, it is expected to reach 780 tons/day and night (equivalent to 10,000 pigs/night to 12,000 pigs/night), an increase of 100% compared to normal days. Traders and traders predict that the amount of pigs purchased from farms will still ensure enough output to supply the market for Tet.

At Binh Dien wholesale market (District 8), the average output of goods to the market is 2,500 - 3,000 tons, however, on peak nights of the market on December 26 and 27, output increased 40 - 60% compared to normal days, equivalent to 3,000 - 3,500 tons/night.

Mr. Phan Thanh Tan, director of Binh Dien Market Management and Business Company, said that this year's Tet holiday has a rich variety of goods at reasonable prices.

The price increase is forecasted to be concentrated in the time before Tet, mainly for items used a lot during Tet. For example, high-end seafood such as grouper, cobia, sturgeon, shrimp, etc. are expected to increase in price by 10-20%, while dried seafood is expected to increase in price by 20-50%.
