Students in Ho Chi Minh City conduct survey in grade 6

3 schools in Thu Duc City conducted the survey for grade 6: Hoa Lu Secondary School, Binh Tho Secondary School and Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School. And in District 7, it was Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School.

Each district and city has its own set of exam questions for survey. Basically, the exam is similar to the previous survey and Tran Dai Nghia school exam, but the level will be easier.

Candidates will take the test in 120 minutes. The test consists of 2 parts: multiple choice and essay. The multiple choice part has 20 English questions about natural sciences , social sciences and common knowledge. Candidates will take the test in 30 minutes.

The essay section includes a test of English, Mathematics and logical thinking, Reading comprehension and writing, and takes 60 minutes.

This year, Thu Duc City has nearly 2,900 candidates taking the exam for grade 6, with an average competition ratio of 1/3. District 7 has more than 1,600 candidates taking the exam, with an average competition ratio of 1/3. After the exam results are available, candidates who do not pass their wishes to enter these schools will be assigned to other secondary schools in the area.

Ms. Lan Huong, who took her child to take the entrance exam to Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School (Thu Duc City), said that starting from grade 5, she let her child get used to the entrance exam. Because her child was still young, she did not put much pressure on her child and encouraged her not to worry.

“I was quite relaxed, so I let my child take the exam to gain experience. I didn’t put too much pressure on him to get into this school. Of course, I encouraged him, telling him that this was the first challenge when he entered a new level of education, hoping that he would enter the exam with a relaxed mind, and partly because the exam rate was quite high,” said Ms. Huong.

This year, some other schools in Ho Chi Minh City also conducted surveys for grade 6, such as Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School in July, and Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School (Hoc Mon District) in late June.
