The training course is part of the Project “Building safer schools against natural disasters”, sponsored by Save the Children International.

The training was attended by 88 teachers from 22 schools participating in the project (schools in the following communes and wards: Yen Bai , Nam Cuong, Van Phu, Tran Yen, Phong Du Thuong, Mo Vang, Lam Giang, Dong Cuong, Mau A, Phong Du Ha and Chau Que).
At the training course, teachers were taught by lecturers from Hanoi National University of Education about counseling skills and psychological support for students, such as: early identification of signs of stress and psychological trauma in students; application of psychological first aid techniques and support tools for each age group; close coordination with families and relevant parties to accompany students.
In particular, the training program focuses on equipping teachers with counseling skills for vulnerable groups of children, such as children with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and LGBT groups, ensuring the principle of "leaving no one behind".
The training course also provides time for teachers to discuss, share experiences, practice role-playing and analyze many real-life situations to improve skill effectiveness.

After the course, teachers will continue to share the knowledge they have acquired with their colleagues at school so that they can become a spiritual support for students.
In the context of children being under a lot of psychological pressure due to natural disasters, epidemics and social events, it is urgent that teachers be equipped with skills in counseling and providing psychological support for students. The knowledge and skills from the training course will be practically applied by teachers, contributing to building a safe, healthy and loving school environment.
