This conference is an opportunity for scientists and leading experts to update new scientific and technical achievements in the field of geriatrics and elderly care; share effective care models in localities; discuss organizational solutions, policies, human resources and technology transfer; build a sustainable healthcare network, adapting to the aging process of the population in the Southern region. Thereby, improving the quality of health care and protection for mid- and high-ranking officials of the Party and State in the Southern region and the elderly community.

Within the framework of the conference, opinions, recommendations and directions from the leaders of Gia Lai province and the Ministry of Health were also presented to contribute to further improving the quality of health care for the people.

Vice Chairwoman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich emphasized that the conference took place in the context of the country having major changes in administrative boundaries, organizational structure implementing the two-level local government model. Accordingly, the system of protection and health care for the elderly and for officials from the central to local levels also had many changes.
In the process of socio-economic development, Gia Lai province pays special attention to comprehensive health care for the people. The province will maximize the local potential, especially the development of medicinal herbs under the forest canopy combined with the construction of resorts for rehabilitation and better health care for the elderly.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich hopes that the health sector will continue to support Gia Lai province in fulfilling its mission of providing health care for the elderly and middle and senior officials; and provide practical recommendations, contributing to orienting Gia Lai province in improving the effectiveness of health care for the elderly in the coming time. The Ministry of Health and the Central Committee for Health Care for Officials will soon issue a mechanism for organizing and operating a unified and effective health care network for officials.

Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan praised and acknowledged the efforts of Thong Nhat Hospital - the leading unit in protecting the health of cadres in the Southern region, in the work of directing the line. Especially in areas such as: Developing specialized expertise (cardiology, neurology, geriatrics); applying modern technology in the treatment and management of chronic diseases; synchronously implementing the work of directing the line, supporting the Southern provinces in taking care of cadres' health; achieving international standards in models of heart failure treatment, stroke management, osteoporosis fractures, etc.
The Deputy Minister of Health said that in the context of population aging, increasing non-communicable diseases and the impact of epidemiological changes, the Politburo has directed the development of a Resolution on breakthroughs in people's health care to meet the requirements of national development in the new era, with important breakthrough contents such as: strongly shifting from "treatment" to "universal health care", taking people as the center; building personal electronic health books, lifelong health management, data connecting with social insurance and hospitals; it is expected that from 2026, each person will receive periodic health check-ups or free professional screening at least once a year; reducing the rate of direct health spending of households to about 30%; each year from 2025-2030, it is necessary to increase at least 1,000 doctors working for a limited time at grassroots health facilities...
With that goal, Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan requested Thong Nhat Hospital, units under the Ministry of Health, Departments of Health and medical facilities to focus on stabilizing the organization and apparatus to ensure medical examination and treatment, and health care for the people; develop strategies and programs for health care for the elderly, integrating the work of protecting staff; further strengthen training and guidance on geriatrics for localities; effectively carry out the work of transferring techniques and remote consultation, especially in emergency treatment of heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, and diseases of the elderly; promptly and effectively organize the implementation of newly issued policies and regimes related to the health sector...
