Specifically, according to the draft of Tuyen Quang province, the reward for athletes winning bronze, silver and gold medals ranges from 5.5 million to 8 million VND; in case of breaking a record, an additional 5.5 million VND will be awarded. Meanwhile, Ha Giang province has a more clearly decentralized reward level, with the reward at the National Sports Festival ranging from 7 million to 18 million VND depending on the type of medal; for other tournaments, Ha Giang also applies a higher reward level than Tuyen Quang. In addition, at the Conference, the issue of establishing a reward fund for coaches and athletes with achievements was also discussed, in order to create a stable and long-term resource to encourage and promote the province's sports movement.
At the conference, Mr. Nguyen My Viet - lecturer at Tan Trao University, also shared about the difficulties that athletes are facing, especially the problem of injuries, limited funding and low bonuses, short playing age, etc., which makes it difficult to discover, train and retain talent in the field of sports. "I have also participated in national competitions, many times athletes have to pay for their own travel, suffer injuries...", Mr. Viet shared.
