Coast Guard Region 3: Penalized 54 violating vessels during the peak of anti-IUU fishing

On November 9, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 said that during the peak period of inspection and handling of violations related to illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, the authorities fined 54 fishing vessels for violations, with a total fine of more than 580 million VND.

Patrol forces to handle IUU violations in the sea area bordering Vietnam - Indonesia

This is the result after nearly a month of deployment, from October 15th to now, in the sea area bordering Vietnam - Indonesia. The working group of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, in coordination with functional units and forces on duty at the scene, inspected and controlled 148 vessels operating in the area.

Officers and soldiers of Coast Guard Region 3 presented national flags and life jackets to encourage fishermen to confidently go out to sea.

In addition to handling violations, the authorities also effectively propagated laws at sea: directly propagating to 357 crew members, distributing 1,032 leaflets, giving 273 national flags to fishermen; and providing emergency aid to 3 fishermen who had work accidents at sea.

The authorities will continue to inspect and control 100% of fishing vessels suspected of operating on the wrong route or violating regulations; increase patrols, handle violations combined with propaganda; be ready to carry out search and rescue missions...

Colonel Le Van Tu, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 3, presented gifts to encourage forces performing tasks at sea.

Colonel, Deputy Commander of Coast Guard Region 3, emphasized: "This is the time to raise the spirit of declaring war on IUU fishing, in order to contribute with the entire political system to end the situation of fishing vessels violating the law before the European Commission (EC) Inspection Team conducts the 5th inspection in Vietnam, scheduled for this November."
