Conference on propaganda about Vietnam's sea and islands

On the morning of October 31, in Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa), the Central Propaganda Department coordinated with Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development , and Navy Command to organize a conference to promote Vietnam's seas and islands in 2024.

Attending the conference were comrade Nguyen Minh Vu, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs ; comrade Vu Thanh Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, along with nearly 300 delegates representing the leaders of 28 coastal provinces and cities, including: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau and Kien Giang. On the side of Ninh Thuan province, there were comrade Tran Minh Nam, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; leaders of relevant departments, branches and units.

Delegates from the Central Government and 28 coastal provinces and cities attended the conference.

At the conference, the reporters from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Navy Command informed the delegates about the following topics: The work of protecting Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty on the political and diplomatic fronts in recent times; The situation and results of combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; The recent situation in the East Sea, forecasts of the situation and directions, tasks of protecting sea and island sovereignty in the coming time...

Comrade Tran Minh Nam, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department attended the conference in Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa).

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Vu Thanh Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, affirmed that the sea and islands are a sacred part of the territory, an inseparable part of the flesh and blood, and have a particularly important position in the cause of national construction and development, with great strategic value in terms of economy, politics, society, national defense and security; propaganda work on the sea and islands is a long-term, regular and continuous task of the entire political system. Therefore, propaganda and raising people's awareness of the role and position of the sea and islands is extremely necessary.

Comrade Vu Thanh Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, gave a speech directing the conference.

In recent times, the propaganda work on seas and islands has achieved great results, contributing significantly to raising people's awareness and love for the seas and islands, motivating forces that are implementing the management and protection of the country's sea and island sovereignty. In order for the coordination of propaganda work on seas and islands to achieve higher quality and efficiency, promoting the proactiveness, creativity and flexibility of forces doing propaganda work on seas and islands, he suggested that all levels, sectors and localities continue to thoroughly grasp the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW, dated October 22, 2018 of the 12th Party Central Committee on "Strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, vision to 2045"; Resolution No. 44-NQ/TW, dated November 24, 2023 of the 13th Party Central Committee on "Strategy for protecting the Fatherland in the new situation"; Resolution of the National Assembly on “National marine spatial planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050”; relevant directives and regulations of the Party and State.
