Hanoi Book Fair X: Weekend knowledge meeting place for many ages

The book fair not only has many incentives from publishers and book companies, but also offers 7 exchange sessions, introducing valuable books and discussing important characters and topics.

On the evening of October 3, the 10th Hanoi Book Fair in 2025 officially opened. This is an annual event directed by the Hanoi People's Committee and implemented by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports , aiming to promote and cultivate reading culture.

This year's program lasts 4 days from October 2-5 in the Hoan Kiem Lake walking street area with many useful activities.

Specifically, the book fair brings many book launches from famous authors, works about famous people, important figures and hot issues of concern such as child rearing, nurturing the soul...

Saturday (October 4) has 3 activities. Morning (9:30 to 11:00) - Launch of the novel "City and Uncertain Walls" by author Haruki Murakami, exchange with translator Luong Viet Dung (pen name Uyen Thiem).

Afternoon (4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) - Exchange on the topic "Two generations of generals - A flow of history" revolving around the life and career of General Nguyen Chi Thanh and his son - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, introducing a set of 4 books: "Stories about General Nguyen Chi Thanh," "Journey for Peace," "Letters from North to South" and "Nguyen Chi Thanh - a perspective from posterity."

The guests were Major General Hoang Kim Phung, former Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and representatives of the family of the late Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh.

Evening (7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) - Introducing the children's book "Foggy Land: The Quest for Memory Glue: Family is Magic" by author Daryl Kho. Guest speakers are Dr. of Education Nguyen Thuy Anh and translator Kieu Ngan Ha. The event provides a space for exchange and discussion about the value of memories and the magical power of family love.

Sunday (October 5) has 4 activities. Morning (8:30 to 9:30) - Exchange to introduce the historical novel "Van Xuan" by French author and writer Yveline Féray; invited guests are Literary Critic Pham Xuan Nguyen and writer Ha Thuy Nguyen.

Also in the morning (10:00 to 11:30), there will be an introduction to the book IELTS WRINGTING, and an exchange of English learning experiences with the author (editor-in-chief) Nguyen Hoang Huy - CEO of The Forum Education English System.

In the afternoon (2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.) there is an exchange session with the theme "Turn open the pages of Vietnamese history - Discover the national spirit with your children through each page of picture books" revolving around 3 book titles: "Uncle Ho's forever faith," "General Vo Nguyen Giap, from teacher to legendary general" and "Vietnam rises."

Also in the afternoon (4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) there was an exchange on the topic "Decoding emotions - Understanding children from the heart" with 6 book titles "Rainbow of emotions," "Lift the Flap, what is this emotion?" "Combo of stories to help children manage emotions," "Mind map to develop IQ-EQ," "Emotion meter - Decoding emotions," a series of books "Stories to nurture EQ." The event speaker was Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam - Head of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The 10th Hanoi Book Fair is also a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day, the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital and the 24th anniversary of Hanoi being recognized by UNESCO as a City for Peace.

There is also a special booth "Thang Long-Hanoi: Aspiration to Rise" introducing nearly 400 typical books; an international book booth introducing many Lao cultural publications, foreign books from England, France, Russia, Japan, and China.

This year, the program continues to bring many booths of publishers Kim Dong, Dong A, Truth National Political Publishing House, Alpha Book Joint Stock Company... with many different incentives.

In addition to that program, there are many experiential activities such as Q&A with the AI ​​turtle, VR360 virtual reality technology, learning about 34 provinces and cities through GIS applications... or experiencing printing doctoral steles, exploring the history of famous people at the booth of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities (Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam), taking place throughout the 4-day event.

Speaking at the opening event, Mr. Truong Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, said that in the period of scientific and technological development, books still maintain an important position, being an invaluable source of knowledge and a means to perceive the world.

Developing a reading culture along with science, technology, innovation, creativity and digital transformation is a practical task and action to build the capital Hanoi, contributing to making the capital become a center of convergence and promotion of cultural values.

Also at the opening ceremony, the Hanoi People's Committee launched and called on publishers, book companies in the city, units participating in the book fair and all readers to respond to the activity of donating books to public libraries in the area.

"This is a practical action, contributing to arousing passion and reading habits in the community, while promoting the spirit of self-study and lifelong learning, one of the important foundations for sustainable development of society," Mr. Truong Viet Dung affirmed./.
