In his welcoming remarks at the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Lam Nhan emphasized that, in the context of globalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation is becoming an essential requirement for the cultural and heritage sector. The application of digital technology to digitizing artifacts, building databases, developing digital museums, online exhibitions, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality not only contributes to more effective preservation of heritage values but also opens up opportunities to connect heritage with education, cultural tourism, creative media, and the knowledge economy .
However, the digital transformation process in the heritage sector also raises many issues that require further research, such as improving policies, standardizing data, ensuring interoperability, training human resources, and preserving cultural identity in the digital environment.

In his opening remarks at the workshop, Professor Dr. Le Hong Ly stated that Vietnam's cultural heritage is a crucial resource for economic, social, and cultural industry development. Given that culture is identified as one of the pillars of national development, exploiting and promoting the value of traditional heritage through digital transformation is of particular importance.
The workshop received over 180 papers from scientists and experts both domestically and internationally, of which 94 were selected and presented under three main themes: Theory, policy, and heritage governance in digital transformation; digital technology and building a heritage data ecosystem; and heritage, tourism, and cultural industries in the digital environment.
Within the framework of the conference, many presentations focused on clarifying the impact of digital transformation on the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values. Notably, the presentation "Redefining Heritage in the Digital Space: Shifts in Concepts and Global Approaches" by Dr. Vu Thi Viet Nga (Nguyen Tat Thanh University) addressed the trend of applying AI, Metaverse, and Blockchain to expand the ability to preserve, interact with, and promote Vietnamese cultural heritage.

The presentation "When Heritage Becomes Data: Power Crisis and Institutional Paradox in Digital Transformation" by Ms. Vu Thi Thu Huong (Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Research) analyzes the shortcomings in heritage data management, arguing that the digitization process can lead to data fragmentation and affect the preservation of heritage authenticity.
Meanwhile, the presentation "Urban Heritage in the Digital Space: Check-in Practices and Challenges in Preserving Authenticity" by Ms. Nguyen Thi Truc Bach (Southern Region Institute of Social Sciences) focused on analyzing the "check-in" phenomenon at Ben Thanh Market, thereby showing the risk of heritage being transformed into a performance image on social media instead of a vibrant cultural space.
The discussions and exchanges at the workshop also focused on identifying technological, human resource, and ethical challenges in the digital transformation of the heritage sector; while sharing experiences, digitalization models, and proposing solutions for building a digital ecosystem to serve the preservation and promotion of Vietnamese cultural heritage values in the context of international integration.
