Hojlund candidly shared: "It's really disappointing, perhaps that's the most accurate word to describe how I feel. Not scoring goals obviously affects me a lot. I always want to get my name on the scoresheet. I would be more worried if I didn't care about that. I'm going through a period where I really want to do better."
When asked about how he deals with criticism, Hojlund said he limits his use of social media to avoid being affected by negative comments. He added, "I spend a lot of time with my girlfriend and family, and I'm about to get a dog."
As one of the most closely watched clubs in the world , Manchester United constantly faces scrutiny from the public, and many players are not immune to criticism from the media and club legends. Hojlund has been under considerable pressure, especially during his recent 22-match goalless streak.
The Danish striker finally broke his goal drought by scoring in the 3-0 victory against Leicester City on March 17th, just before heading to join the Danish national team.
Manchester United signed Hojlund from Atalanta in the summer of 2023 for a fee that could reach £72 million. However, since then, the striker has only scored 24 goals for the "Red Devils". There are reports that MU are willing to sell Hojlund to sign another striker.
Jean-Philippe Mateta of Crystal Palace or Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon are two names that have been mentioned.
