On September 28, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to review activities in the first 9 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 3 months of the year.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Le Van Thinh, Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in the first 9 months of the year, many units under the department have basically completed the assigned targets and tasks in the fields of labor, meritorious people and society.
The Department has focused on implementing preferential policies for people with revolutionary contributions, social security policies, especially poverty reduction, child protection and care, nurturing vulnerable groups, drug addicts, etc.
State management of labor - employment - vocational education has been focused on reviewing and organizing implementation more urgently; timely preventing strikes and work stoppages in the area, the number of cases and the number of people decreased compared to the same period last year.

At the conference, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Hang, Chief of Office of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City reported on the industry's performance in the first 9 months of the year and key tasks for the last 3 months of the year.
According to the report, since the beginning of the year, the city's authorities have received 166,266 applications for unemployment benefits, issuing decisions on unemployment benefits for 112,067 workers.
Compared to the same period in 2022, the number of employees quitting their jobs at businesses and applying for unemployment benefits increased by 10,323 cases, an increase of 9.74%.
Although the number of workers who quit their jobs and apply for unemployment benefits has increased, the labor sector has promptly provided advice, introduced jobs, and implemented unemployment insurance policies for workers.
In particular, cases where many workers quit their jobs, such as the three times PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. cut nearly 8,000 workers, Dong Minh Textile Co., Ltd. cut 342 workers... were promptly resolved by the labor sector in terms of workers' rights.

In addition, the labor sector also organized 107 sessions, job fairs, job consultation and introduction for 127,206 people and 78,611 people received jobs.
In total, since the beginning of the year, the labor sector has created jobs for nearly 243,000 people, up 0.24% over the same period last year; of which, the number of new jobs is more than 107,000, up 0.3% over the same period.
Thanks to activities connecting supply and demand, solving employment for workers, promptly grasping the situation of labor relations... since after Tet until now, there have been no strikes or work stoppages in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the report of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the labor sector in the past 9 months has achieved many positive results such as: The rate of job creation increased by 0.24%; the rate of new job creation increased by 0.3%; vocational training enrollment increased by 16.26%, vocational training for rural workers increased by 3.59%; sending people to work abroad increased by 1,189 cases....
However, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City acknowledged that the labor and employment situation in the city still faces many difficulties and challenges; especially large enterprises implementing large-scale labor cuts such as: Pouyen Company reduced 7,979 workers, Dong Minh Textile Company Limited reduced 342 workers...
Currently, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City is continuously collecting information on the labor market to grasp and promptly handle difficulties that arise to stabilize the employment situation in the area.
