A large number of orchids are being carefully cared for by gardeners in Da Nang City. It is expected that more than 200,000 orchids will be supplied to the flower market this Tet.
According to reporters, at orchid farms in Hoa Chau commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city, garden owners are busy preparing for the biggest harvest season of the year.
Staff at the orchid gardens in Hoa Chau are taking care of each step and taking good care to ensure the flowers bloom in season, have beautiful colors, and the plants have a stronger shape.
At the orchid garden of Mr. Ho Huu Hoang (Hoa Chau commune, Hoa Vang district) with an area of nearly 3 hectares, it is one of the largest orchid gardens in Da Nang.
Nearly 200,000 Mokara orchids are grown here, with a variety of colors and species.
Mr. Hoang said that to meet the high demand for orchids during Tet, his garden has nearly 10 workers who regularly water, fertilize and prevent pests, ensuring that each orchid is carefully cared for.
“My nearly 3-hectare orchid garden is preparing for Tet. Orders have been placed for several months, so we have to take good care of the flowers so they bloom on time and ensure supply to customers,” said Mr. Hoang.
During Tet, customers often order large pots of orchids in a variety of colors. Depending on the quantity and arrangement, each pot of orchids usually costs from several million to tens of millions of dong.
Mokara orchids of all sizes, seedlings cost around 20,000 - 25,000 VND/plant. Flowering plants cost around 150,000 - 180,000 VND/plant.
Cut orchids cost about 8,000 VND/branch to decorate events, weddings...
For orchids to grow well and bloom continuously, gardeners must take great care, install a roofing system, and prevent pests and diseases.
Although there are many colors, customers still prefer red or yellow orchids the most. According to Eastern beliefs, these two colors symbolize luck and fortune at the beginning of the year.
"Many types of orchids in the garden have relatively "soft" prices, suitable for many people's budgets. So every time Tet is near, many people come to my garden to order early," Mr. Hoang added.
