The rotor of unit 2, weighing 585 tons (after assembly, it weighs about 620 tons), has been carefully inspected in every detail, cleaned, aligned, and pressure tested and sample measured to ensure deviation within design limits before installation.
According to Mr. Bui Binh Nhuong - Commander of LILAMA 10 at the construction site, to achieve this important milestone, the company's officers and engineers have organized to work continuously in three shifts, increased the number of supporting machines and equipment, ensuring no overlap or interruption during the construction process.

The successful installation of the rotor of Unit 2 is one of the most decisive stages of the project, the basic completion step for the generator to rotate and generate electricity, and at the same time, testing the capacity of the equipment complex, construction coordination and quality management of the parties under high pressure conditions. This is also an important milestone, creating a favorable premise for connecting to the grid, moving towards commercial operation of both units on the upcoming December 19. Previously, Unit 1 was successfully connected to the grid on August 19.

The Hoa Binh Hydropower Expansion Project is an important national project, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 389/QD-TTg dated April 10, 2018. The investor is Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), the investor representative is Power Project Management Board 1.
The project has a construction scale of 2 units, total capacity of 480MW (2x240MW), average annual power generation output of about 490 million kWh, with a total investment of more than 9,220 billion VND.
The project is built on the right bank of the existing Hoa Binh hydroelectric dam, in Phuong Lam, Thai Binh , Thai Thinh wards, now Hoa Binh ward (Phu Tho province).
Upon completion, the project will increase the national power system's peak capacity; improve the efficiency of exploitation and frequency regulation, stabilize the system's frequency; reduce the working intensity of existing generators, thereby extending equipment life, saving maintenance costs, contributing to the safe, stable and efficient operation of the national power system.
