More than 6,300 candidates compete for 10th grade tickets to 2 specialized schools in Hanoi

In 2025, the High School for Natural Sciences (University of Natural Sciences) has 3,000 applications for the exam. Meanwhile, the school will enroll 525 students in grade 10 (including classes in Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology; each specialized block has 105 applicants).

Candidates taking the exam must take 4 exams, including 3 general exams (Literature, Math, English) and 1 specialized subject (Math, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry or Biology). The school plans to announce the results before June 24.

To be considered for admission, candidates must score 4 or higher in each subject, calculated on a 10-point scale. The admission score is the sum of the math score (round 1) and the specialized subject multiplied by a factor of two. Literature and English are conditional subjects and are not included in the admission score.

This year, the Foreign Language High School (University of Foreign Languages) received nearly 3,400 applications, with a total of 630 positions for 7 specialized groups: English, French, Russian, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean.

Each candidate must take 4 exams, including: Literature (coefficient 1) in 120 minutes; Math (coefficient 1) in 90 minutes; English (coefficient 1) 60 minutes and Specialized Foreign Language (coefficient 2) 90 minutes.

The admission score is the total score of the 4 subjects Literature, Math, English, and Specialized Foreign Language on a 10-point scale; in which the Specialized Foreign Language has a coefficient of 2 and the remaining subjects have a coefficient of 1. The school only considers admission for candidates who take the entrance exam, have taken all the required exams, and have a score of more than 2.0 points in all the exams. The exam scores and benchmark scores will be announced before July 15.

Previously, on May 24 and 25, the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities organized the first specialized 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi in 2025, with 2,000 candidates participating.

Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School held the exam on the morning of May 31 with 5,709 candidates participating, while the school's quota was 320 6th grade students. To participate in this exam, candidates must take 3 tests including: Vietnamese (45 minutes), English (30 minutes) and Math (45 minutes), the exam closely follows the 5th grade program according to the 2018 general education program. The exam format combines objective and essay tests, aiming to assess students' comprehensive abilities from basic knowledge to thinking and reasoning ability.

For the University of Education High School for the Gifted, the 10th grade exam schedule takes place on June 4-5 with 3 general subjects and 1 specialized subject (Math, Literature, English, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Informatics or Geography).
