The 18th Pyongyang International Film Festival opened at the Pyongyang International Cinema on October 22. This is the first international film festival to be held in six years, after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Attending the opening ceremony were North Korean Vice Premier Kim Myong Hun, industry officials, North Korean artists and workers, and foreign delegations and delegates.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the six-day event, Mr. Ri Song Un, Director General of the State Film Industry Administration and Chairman of the Film Festival Organizing Committee, warmly welcomed the delegates attending the film festival, saying that the film festival is an important occasion to further strengthen the friendly neighborly relations between progressive countries in the world and the film industry.
He expressed his belief that the film festival will be a great success thanks to the efforts and sincere cooperation of all participants.
After the opening ceremony, the audience enjoyed the film "Red Silk," a co-production between Russia and China.
The list of films screened at the event comes from about 10 countries, including Indonesia, Morocco, Poland and Greece, with genres of feature films, animations, short films and documentaries./.
