The national concert Dieu Con Mai 2025 took place on September 2 at the Ho Guom Theater, Hanoi, marking a special milestone in the year of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. Directed by the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs and Religion, Dieu Con Mai 2025 was introduced as having many innovations, with the participation of young artists appearing for the first time.

The concert was conducted by the Sun Symphony Orchestra (SSO) and music director Tran Manh Hung. This was also the first time the program was held at the Ho Guom Theater instead of the Opera House like 16 years ago.

What remains is not only a concert but also an artistic journey, telling the story of Vietnamese history through the language of academic music. With the theme "Vietnam - The Journey of Rising", the program is built as a musical journey from North to South, recreating the beauty of the lands that the liberation army passed through: Central Highlands, Binh Tri Thien, South Central, South, Ho Chi Minh City.

The works are carefully selected, combining revolutionary songs, folk songs, red music and lyrical music, all arranged for a symphony orchestra to bring elegance, softness but still imbued with national character.

Music Director Tran Manh Hung shared: “Since its inception, Dieu Con Mai has had the mission of honoring the values of Vietnamese music in the academic language - the symphony orchestra. Different from regular music programs, here, traditional music, revolutionary songs, folk songs, red music, lyrical music... are all brought to the symphony stage, creating its own identity.”

According to Mr. Tran Manh Hung, this year, in addition to celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day, the program also aims at the 50th anniversary of national reunification. The crew chose to tell the story using elegant and soft musical language, but still covering major historical milestones.

For example, the Song Lo epic will be staged in the style of a concerto for piano and orchestra, performed by young talent Luong Khanh Nhi. Or, Towards Hanoi will be performed with the cello of a young artist studying in the US, bringing a fresh perspective on the capital.

Besides, familiar songs about Hanoi and the Fatherland will be renewed with the participation of artists such as Hong Nhung and Tung Duong.

“We want the audience to not only listen to familiar melodies but also feel the depth of history and national spirit. Each piece is a piece of the puzzle, from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, from the glorious past to the prosperous present,” said the music director.
