The press conference on the Vietnam Tourism Summit 2019 with the theme "For Vietnamese tourism to truly take off" was held in Hanoi on the morning of October 23.

Accordingly, at this press conference, Deputy General Director of the General Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong said that the 2nd Vietnam Tourism Summit 2019 was held in the context of the tourism industry in a period of strong development, receiving special attention from the Party and the State. In the first 9 months of 2019, Vietnam welcomed 12.8 million international visitors (up 10.8% over the same period), served 66 million domestic visitors; total revenue from tourists reached 504 trillion VND. Notably, recently, Vietnamese tourism has won 4 important awards from the World Travel Awards for Asia's leading destination, Asia's leading culinary destination, Asia's leading cultural destination, Hoi An is Asia's leading cultural city.
Based on the above favorable context and the goal - theme of the 2nd Vietnam Tourism Summit 2019 "For Vietnamese tourism to truly take off", Deputy General Director of the General Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong proposed to focus on discussing and giving advice to ministries, branches and the Government to solve 5 key issues of the tourism industry today.

Firstly, on destination management and improving the quality of tourism services. Including construction management and management, monitoring the implementation of tourism planning, environmental management, improving product quality, etc.
Second, strengthen tourism promotion and advertising. Specifically, effectively coordinate the public and private sectors to establish tourism promotion offices abroad; combine with the aviation industry and professional associations in promoting activities to attract high-quality tourists, etc.

Sharing at the press conference, Mr. Tran Trong Kien, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), Member of the Private Economic Development Research Board (Board IV) said: After the success of the first Tourism Summit (held in December 2018, in Hanoi), this year, the organizing committee hopes and expects to continue to achieve good results. Accordingly, at the 2nd Vietnam Tourism Summit, 2019, in addition to discussing and finding solutions for tourism and aviation development, there will also be a signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding and cooperation agreements between the parties. Of which, the most notable is the launch of two Vietnam tourism promotion offices in the UK and Australia in the form of public-private partnerships.
According to Mr. Tran Trong Kien, last year, the Vietnam Tourism Summit attracted 1,500 domestic and foreign guests, including experts, businessmen in the tourism sector, and managers of major airlines in the region and internationally. Therefore, this year, the organizing committee expects to attract 2,000 guests to attend the discussion sessions at the forum./.
