Successfully detonated a bomb weighing nearly 300kg in Thuong Ninh commune

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the morning of August 8, the People's Committee of Thuong Ninh commune coordinated with the Engineering Department, Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command to successfully handle and destroy a bomb weighing nearly 300kg left over from the war.

The bomb was about 40cm in diameter, about 120cm long, and weighed about 300kg.

Previously, at 7:30 p.m. on July 31, the Military Command of Thuong Ninh commune received a report from Mr. Nguyen Bach Thao's family in Dong Xuan village about the discovery of an unexploded bomb during the process of leveling and handling landslides near the house wall due to the consequences of storm No. 3.

The bomb is about 40cm in diameter, about 120cm long, weighs about 300kg, and 2/3 of the bomb's body is exposed.

Authorities carried out bomb disposal.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Military Command of Thuong Ninh commune quickly sent forces to the scene, stretched security ropes, blocked off the area where the bomb was discovered; reported to the Commune People's Committee and the Military Command of Region 5 - Tinh Gia.

After implementing safety measures, the authorities moved the bomb to the Nhu Xuan Shooting Range, Regiment 923, Division 371, Air Defense - Air Force in Village 8, Xuan Binh Commune, Thanh Hoa Province, to handle and destroy it according to regulations, ensuring absolute safety.
