Associate Professor, Dr. Vo Tan Duc, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Diagnostic Imaging, Head of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized the important role of diagnostic imaging in the management, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of hepatobiliary diseases.

The workshop focused on clarifying the prominent role of MRI using liver-bile specific contrast agents (EOB-MRI) in early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), metastasis assessment, liver transplantation support and differentiation of benign lesions such as FNH with Adenoma, hemangioma... Experts from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital also emphasized: the application of EOB-MRI not only increases diagnostic accuracy but also helps save treatment costs and improve prognosis for patients.

On the same day, Thien Nhan Hospital organized an intensive practical training session (Hands-on) on EOB-MRI imaging and analysis techniques, under the direct guidance of Dr. CKII Le Duy Mai Huyen - Deputy Head of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City.

The training session helps Thien Nhan's team of technicians improve their skills, master the process of implementing modern techniques, thereby optimizing the effectiveness of diagnosis and clinical support.

Dr. Le Duy Mai Huyen - Deputy Head of Department of Diagnostic Imaging, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City reported at the conference.

Currently, Thien Nhan Hospital is the pioneer in the Central region to own the MRI 3.0 Tesla Lumina system - the latest generation of diagnostic imaging equipment from Siemens (Germany) - integrating specialized hepatobiliary imaging techniques combined with EOB contrast agents (Primovist). This technology provides images of liver parenchyma and bile ducts with outstanding sharpness and detail, especially effective in detecting early-stage HCC, small, atypical lesions or liver metastases that are difficult to detect on ultrasound or conventional CT.

In addition to the ability to perform in-depth analysis according to dynamic phases (arterial, portal vein, late phase and hepatobiliary phase), the system also supports risk stratification, disease progression monitoring and the development of personalized treatment plans, contributing to improving treatment effectiveness and clinical prognosis for patients.

With more than 3 years of experience implementing EOB-MRI technology, Thien Nhan Hospital is currently the unit performing the largest number of EOB liver and gallbladder scans in Da Nang, becoming a trusted address for professionals and people in screening, diagnosing and treating liver and gallbladder diseases, as well as in early screening for cancer and stroke risk.
