Lac Thuy District Fatherland Front coordinated with Dong Tam Commune authorities to give money to support the demolition of temporary houses for poor households in Dong Noi village.
The Standing Committee of the District Fatherland Front Committee guides the Fatherland Front of communes and towns to launch movements, receive, manage and use support funds to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses according to regulations. The commune police force and local militia and self-defense forces participate in supporting, transporting materials and constructing houses for the poor.
With the motto of not leaving the poor behind, in November 2024, the district organized a launching ceremony to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, receiving support from sectors, organizations, communes, towns, companies, businesses, and benefactors inside and outside the district with an amount of over 1.3 billion VND and 600 tons of cement.
Through screening, the total number of poor households in need of new construction and repair that are assessed as eligible for support is 63 households. Up to now, 63 houses have been completed, reaching 100% of the plan, on schedule with a total support budget of 3,530 million VND. Of which, the funding source from the Provincial Fund for the Poor supports 33 houses, with an amount of 1,650 million VND (22 newly built houses, 11 repaired houses); the funding source from the District Fund for the Poor supports 25 houses, with an amount of 1.5 billion VND; the provincial relief fund supports damage caused by storm No. 3 (Yagi) 1 house, with an amount of 50 million VND; Agribank Lac Thuy supports 1 house, with an amount of 50 million VND; the District Police supports 2 houses, with an amount of 220 million VND; the District Military Command supports 1 house, with an amount of 60 million VND.
In addition to the funding support from the provincial and district levels, the Steering Committees of communes and towns actively propagated and mobilized agencies, units, businesses and people to support 1,022 working days, equivalent to nearly 400 million VND and 150 tons of cement to support families in the process of building and repairing houses.
Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Van, Vice Chairman of Lac Thuy District People's Committee said: The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor in the district has received the attention and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels; the drastic, synchronous and highly responsible participation of the entire political system, especially the Fatherland Front, the police force, the military, and socio-political organizations from the district to the grassroots; the joint efforts and unanimous response from organizations, businesses, philanthropists and people. The propaganda, mobilization and resource mobilization work has been well implemented, contributing significantly to raising awareness, creating consensus, joining hands and contributing efforts of the whole society in supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. The work of reviewing, identifying support objects and providing financial support is in accordance with regulations, ensuring publicity, transparency and fairness. Many localities have effective and creative models.
In the coming time, communes will continue to monitor the housing situation of meritorious people, poor and near-poor households to have appropriate support solutions. Promote the mobilization of resources, especially support funds during the peak month for the Poor to support the construction and repair of new houses and the implementation of social security programs. Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations will continue to promote propaganda and education work, raise awareness and responsibility of cadres, party members, members and union members in joining hands to implement social security programs.
