Tuong Duong district completes 1,474 houses for the poor

Immediately after receiving instructions from the province and the Fatherland Front of Nghe An province on the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the Steering Committee of Tuong Duong district issued Plan No. 17-KH/BCĐ dated February 25, 2025, launching the emulation movement "90 days and nights" (from March 1 to June 1, 2025) with the goal of supporting the construction and repair of 1,632 houses for the poor and policy beneficiaries.

The campaign was deployed simultaneously in 17/17 communes and towns, with the launching ceremony held on the morning of March 1, 2025, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, spreading widely to every village, hamlet, and household.

The special point in the implementation is the methodical and unified way of doing things from the district to the grassroots, with the motto of "5 clear": clear people, clear work, clear responsibilities, clear progress, clear results. The members of the District Steering Committee are assigned to be in charge of each area, directly going to the grassroots at least 5 times during the campaign to direct, inspect, and remove obstacles.

Despite the rugged terrain of Tuong Duong, the traffic is divided, and many villages are in remote areas, but with the spirit of "State and People Working Together", the campaign mobilized 9,772 working days from the community. Activities such as digging foundations, transporting materials, building houses, and roofing were actively participated by the people, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love and support.

Many localities have outstanding contributions of working days such as: Luong Minh commune with 3,398 working days, Xa Luong commune with nearly 1,000 working days, Yen Na and Yen Hoa communes, each with hundreds of working days.

Along with mobilizing people, the campaign also effectively used financial resources. The total budget allocated to communes and towns was 53.9 billion VND, from the State budget, national target programs, socialization and the district's "For the Poor" Fund.

Accordingly, as of June 20, 2025, the entire district has completed and put into use 1,474/1,632 houses, reaching a rate of 90.3%, including 445 newly built houses and 1,029 repaired houses. The remaining (158 houses) have all started construction and are committed to be completed before June 30, 2025.

Including the 2023-2025 period, Tuong Duong district has completed 4,091/4,250 houses, reaching 96.25%, exceeding the set plan. Of which, there are 2,299 newly built houses and 1,792 repaired houses, providing solid homes for thousands of poor and near-poor households, meritorious people and disadvantaged people.

Many localities were commended for completing 100% of houses on schedule and ahead of schedule, such as the communes of Nhon Mai, Mai Son, Tam Quang, Xa Luong, Yen Na, Yen Hoa, and Thach Giam town...

The “90-day and night” campaign to build and repair houses for the poor in Tuong Duong district is not just a short-term competition but has become a widespread movement, demonstrating creativity and methodical leadership and direction; demonstrating the consensus and high determination of the entire population; and at the same time, it is a testament to the effectiveness of social security policies in ethnic minority areas.

The success of the campaign is not only in numbers, but also a beautiful image of the spirit of solidarity, sharing, and responsibility of the entire political system and the community towards the difficult lives in the district.
