According to GSMArena , according to an announcement from both companies, iFixit will no longer be an official distributor of Samsung components and repair tools due to the high price of components and the complex design of Samsung devices.

iFixit Ends Partnership with Samsung on Self-Repair Program

GSMARENA SCREENSHOT

iFixit explained the termination of the partnership due to the high cost of Samsung components, making it difficult for them to provide repair services at reasonable prices to users. In addition, iFixit also said that they could not access genuine components for the latest Samsung devices such as the Galaxy S23, Z Flip5, and Z Fold5.

In an official press release, iFixit expressed concerns about Samsung’s commitment to supporting independent repair. The company said it has difficulty obtaining parts at affordable prices for local repair shops.

In addition, iFixit also accused Samsung of participating in the free repair program mainly for PR purposes, not really intending to make it easier for users to repair their devices. However, iFixit will continue to provide free repair kits for Samsung phones, but users may have to pay higher costs than before.

The termination of the partnership between Samsung and iFixit is said to affect users who want to repair their Samsung devices themselves.
