According to Yonhap News Agency (South Korea), Mr. Masayoshi Son - founder of SoftBank - is said to have arranged a golf session between US President Donald Trump and leaders of leading Korean corporations on October 18.
The golf session took place at Mr. Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, USA.
Participants include: Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae Yong, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae Won, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chairman Euisun Chung, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang Mo and Hanwha Group Vice Chairman Kim Dong Kwan.
That morning, local police temporarily blocked the road connecting Mar-a-Lago to Trump International Golf Club to allow the US president's motorcade to move. According to a group of White House reporters, Mr. Trump arrived at 9:15.
The golf outing is seen as an important sideline move, as senior South Korean officials are trying to make a breakthrough in trade talks in Washington. Tariff discussions between the two allies have yet to yield results, affecting economic interests.
This is seen as an opportunity for Korean business leaders to directly discuss many issues with Mr. Trump.
An official in the business delegation described "the corporate presidents enjoyed the game with President Trump and discussed various topics."
The White House declined to comment on the event.
President Trump is known to be a golf enthusiast. During a phone call with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung after his election in June, the two leaders talked about their golf skills and promised to play together when they had the chance.
