However, PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi has denied this information. Sharing at a press conference on October 25 after returning from the AFC Conference in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Yunus Nusi said: “Some AFC member countries have asked us about the rumors of leaving the Asian football governing body along with Japan and Korea.
This is a baseless rumor. We hope this information will be extinguished soon. Indonesian fans should not promote this false information. It is not good for PSSI and the Indonesian team. AFC is very sensitive to information from the media."
Previously, Football Tribe (Japan) contacted important sources within the JFA to ask about this information. An anonymous official of the JFA revealed: “That information is completely baseless. No one knows where the origin of this rumor comes from. These are just nonsense rumors.”
The above information comes from UTV (Iraq). Accordingly, the Japan Football Association (JFA) feels dissatisfied with the management and unfair decisions of the AFC. Therefore, they are considering leaving the authority of Asian football to form their own federation, called the East Asian Football Confederation.
Several other countries, including Iraq, Uzbekistan, Australia, Indonesia and Thailand, are said to be considering joining if the plan becomes a reality.

JFA is particularly unhappy with the AFC's change in the format of the AFC Champions League Elite (Asian Cup C1) by moving the competition to be held centrally in Saudi Arabia from the quarter-finals onwards from last season.
The Football Association of the Land of the Rising Sun believes that the AFC is dependent on funding from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. As a result, the Asian football governing body has made many unfair decisions, favoring representatives from West Asia.
Recently, Indonesia also suffered a big disadvantage when having to compete in the 4th qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Saudi Arabia. The AFC even arranged for a West Asian referee to officiate the match between Indonesia and host Saudi Arabia.
