The design of the iPhone 17 Air has attracted attention with its impressively thin and light appearance, super thin screen bezels and new frame. Although it is just a concept and has not been officially launched, the design of this model has been "referenced" by a number of Chinese phone manufacturers.
The first case is that of the Infinix Hot 60i. This upcoming phone is said to be inspired by the renders of the iPhone 17 Air. Leak expert Ben Geskin pointed this out on the social network X, when he posted an image of an Infinix phone with a surprisingly similar design.
What caused more controversy was a comment from prominent tech expert Max Jambor. His observation, though simple, highlighted the speed at which Chinese companies “learned,” even if the design was still a rumor. “The iPhone 17 Air hasn’t even been released yet, and Chinese companies are already copying it,” Jambor wrote.

Not only Infinix, many reports show that Nubia is also developing a slim phone model called Nubia Air. Recently, news expert Evan Blass shared for the first time a design diagram of this phone with a design quite similar to the upcoming iPhone 17 Air.
Blass has now released an official render and spec sheet, revealing everything about the Nubia Air ahead of its launch.
Leaked documents show that Nubia Air will be equipped with a 6.78-inch OLED screen, resolution of 1224 x 2720 pixels. The device will run Android 15.0 operating system, use Unisoc T8300 octa-core chip, come with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal memory. The battery of the device has a capacity of 5000mAh.

While Apple has yet to officially confirm any information about the iPhone 17 Air, Chinese manufacturers are still willing to build products based on rumors and ideas, which shows that the line between "learning" and "copying" is increasingly blurred.
Infinix's move may be ridiculed, but from a business perspective, it could be a bold strategy. By creating a "popular" design right from the concept stage, Infinix can capture the trend and attract users' attention.
Given the sky-high price of the iPhone, launching a similar-looking product at a cheaper price could be an effective strategy, helping brands like Infinix establish themselves as an attractive alternative.
However, copying is only a temporary solution. To build a strong brand, companies need to focus on creativity and innovation. This situation once again shows the great influence of Apple on the smartphone industry. A rumor about the design of "Apple" is enough to make other companies follow.
