Iran said it had shot down several drones and that “there were no missile attacks” on the country at the moment.
There were three "explosions" near the Shekari air base near the city of Isfahan, the Fars news agency said, following unconfirmed reports of Israeli attacks on Iran.
Iranian state television reported that nuclear facilities in Isfahan province were unaffected after Israeli missiles reportedly hit a site in Iran. According to Fars, loud “explosions” were recorded in Isfahan, home to several Iranian nuclear facilities, including the Natanz facility, the center of the country’s uranium enrichment program.
Press TV reported that the situation in Isfahan was normal. Meanwhile, CNN quoted a senior US official as saying that Israel had informed Washington that it was not targeting Iran's nuclear facilities.
The target, the source said, was several sites linked to Iran's nuclear program in and around the city of Isfahan. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office declined to confirm to the Times of Israel that Israel was behind the explosions in Isfahan.
The United States has announced new sanctions on Iran targeting its production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and imposed additional travel restrictions on Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahianin's delegation as he traveled to New York to attend meetings at the United Nations (UN) headquarters.
According to US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel, the above restrictions allow the Iranian delegation to move only within 2 blocks from the UN headquarters, between the UN and the Iranian representative agency and John F. Kennedy airport.
