Regarding the damage and deterioration on the Ho Chi Minh road (section from Nam Can town - Dat Mui), recently, the Vietnam Road Administration issued a document directing the Road Management Area IV to review and inspect the scene... At the same time, it requested Project Management Board 8 and contractors to repair and maintain sections and routes in accordance with the approved progress, plan, and quality requirements of the project, ensuring traffic safety. This work is also carried out on National Highway 1 through Ca Mau province.
A degraded spot on the Ho Chi Minh Highway section through Nam Can town was recorded on August 3.
For damaged areas outside the scope of planned maintenance and repair projects, based on the results of the review and determination of the cause, Road Management Area IV will consider and decide or report, and propose to remedy the consequences in accordance with regulations.
The Vietnam Road Administration also requested the Road Construction Investment Management Department to review and advise relevant agencies and units to implement repair and maintenance projects on the above sections of National Highway 1 and Ho Chi Minh Road to strictly implement measures to ensure traffic safety and construction safety; carry out construction and repair on the sections in accordance with the approved progress, plan and quality requirements. At the same time, advise and report on problems and issues arising from related projects if they exceed their authority; coordinate with Road Management Area IV to implement the above tasks.
According to Road Management Area IV, through on-site inspection, from August 1-2, the amount of damage on National Highway 1 was about 3,000 m2 and Ho Chi Minh Road was about 3,000 m2, mainly concentrated in projects under the 2023 maintenance plan waiting for Project Management Board 8 to implement construction.
The Ho Chi Minh Highway section from Nam Can to Ca Mau has been temporarily repaired by the maintenance unit, ensuring traffic flow.
Road Management Area IV has directed the maintenance unit to actively focus on increasing human resources, machinery, and materials to carry out repairs and ensure timely traffic at severely damaged locations that cause traffic safety problems. However, the asphalt road surface structure and the time of operation have been long, and have not been invested in repair and upgrading; when heavy rains last for a long time, flooding leads to many damages such as mud, potholes, and potholes. Meanwhile, regular repair work, ensuring traffic with cold concrete, crushed stone, temporary drainage pipes, curbs, etc., is facing many difficulties, not ensuring stability, and often damaged again after a few days due to wet road surfaces, often flooded. On the other hand, currently, the Southern region is in the peak of the rainy and stormy season, so the damage to the road surface will continue to occur and become increasingly severe. Regular maintenance costs will not be able to meet the demand./.
