Taking place at Tao Dan Stadium (District 1 - Ho Chi Minh City), this is the biggest sporting event of the year for primary school students in Ho Chi Minh City, within the framework of the "School Football" Project in coordination with the "Dynamic Vietnam" program, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation, the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training and the Nestlé MILO brand.
Starting in the 2013-2014 school year with only 40 participating schools, the School Football Festival has grown significantly over the past 12 years. The 2024-2025 season will see a record-breaking 262 primary schools, attracting more than 18,000 students to participate in the tournaments.
Taking place from May 19 to May 2, the competition includes: 5-a-side men's football (5x5), mixed teams (4 men + 1 woman), matches apply the single-elimination format.
In case of a draw, the teams will enter a 6m penalty shootout with 5 kicks, of which kicks 2, 4, 7, 9 must be taken by female players for mixed teams.
Not only providing a useful sports playground, the program also helps students practice discipline, perseverance and solidarity. In particular, this is also a place to discover young football talents for the city and the whole country.
This year's final round took place from May 19 to 23 with 189 participating teams, divided into three grades: grade 3, grade 4 and grade 5. Of these, there were 104 boys' teams and 85 mixed boys' and girls' teams.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Doan Minh Xuong - Head of School Football Department, Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation, emphasized: "This year's tournament received enthusiastic participation from students and the support of schools and parents. The Festival has become a healthy playground, expected every year and a place to nurture the passion for football among school-age children."
As a companion for the past 11 years, Nestlé MILO has made a huge contribution to the project through many forms of support: 10,000 balls, 40 mini goals, 27,000 uniforms, training equipment and organization costs.
