Opening of the 2024 National Swimming Tournament for Middle and Seniors

On October 10, in Hue City, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thua Thien Hue province coordinated with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly to open the 2024 National Traditional Swimming Tournament for the Middle-aged and Elderly.

Athletes compete at the 26th National Traditional Swimming Tournament for middle-aged and elderly people.

The 26th National Traditional Swimming Tournament for the Middle and Elderly in 2024 attracted more than 200 male and female coaches and athletes from 22 localities and units nationwide to participate. The tournament responded to the "Month of Action for the Elderly in Vietnam"

At the tournament, athletes competed in 4 events: butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle in 9 age groups. Including: 35-39 years old group; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74 years old group; and honor group (women 70 years old and older and men 75 years old and older).

Mr. Bui Thanh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thua Thien Hue province, said: The tournament is one of the practical and useful activities to promote the movement of physical exercise and sports in general and among the elderly in particular. At the same time, it encourages the elderly to live happily, healthily and happily, contributing to promoting the emulation movement "Old age - Good example" and developing various types of physical exercise and sports in localities and facilities.

Thereby, the elderly set a shining example for their children and grandchildren in the spirit of "The older the age, the higher the ambition", being active and enthusiastic in training to live a useful life for themselves, their families and society; arousing and spreading the sports movement in the community.

The tournament will take place from now until October 15 at the swimming pool of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Sports Center.
