Attending the event were comrade Le Hai Binh, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with representatives of departments, branches, associations, a large number of photographers, the public and tourists.
The exhibition displays 200 outstanding works, selected from 5,032 photos sent from all over the country (including 568 photo sets and 4,464 single photos), comprehensively reflecting the flow of history and the breath of life in Vietnam over the past eight decades.

The works represent three important historical-artistic periods. They are: “Unforgettable Years” - depicting memories of war and the indomitable spirit of the nation in the struggle for independence; “A Country Full of Joy” - recreating the atmosphere of solidarity and joy during the period of unification, construction and development; “Integration and Development” - reflecting a dynamic, creative and confident Vietnam in the period of innovation and international integration.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, photographer Tran Thi Thu Dong, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, emphasized: “The exhibition is not only a place to admire art, but also a journey of proud memories, reminding today's generation of the unparalleled value of Peace , Independence and Freedom. Each work is a visual epic about the Vietnamese Fatherland."

In particular, in the program, a number of typical works associated with important historical moments of the nation were introduced to the public along with the emotional sharing of the authors themselves. First is the work: "Rally celebrating the complete liberation of the South at the August Revolution Square, May 1, 1975" by photographer Nguyen Huu Nen ( Hanoi ) - a valuable documentary work recording the joy of the country being reunited.
Next is the work “The Reunification Train - Connecting the North and South” by photographer Tran Uong Son (Hanoi) - a vivid symbol of the unified country, warmly welcomed by the people of Ho Chi Minh City on January 4, 1977.

The exhibition is an opportunity to honor the contributions of generations of Vietnamese photographers - those who "record history with images", regardless of hardships and dangers to preserve authentic and emotional moments of the nation's history; at the same time, it also arouses the pride, dedication, passion and commitment of photographers in the new era.
The Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists hopes that the works in the exhibition “Fatherland - 80 Autumns of Independence” will continue to inspire, arouse patriotism, pride and aspiration to contribute in every Vietnamese person today.
